Addiction care
Outpatient addiction care
Outpatient addiction care is a form of care in which you are not admitted to a clinic, but are treated from home. This care is flexible and adapts to your daily life. The goal is to support people with addictions, such as gambling addiction, in their recovery without having to give up their daily routines.
What Does Outpatient Care Involve?
There are different forms of therapy that are used
Individual Therapy: One-on-one meetings with a therapist to explore the causes of your addiction and develop coping strategies.
Group Therapy: Together with others experiencing the same problems, you share experiences and support each other in the recovery process.
Aftercare: After the intensive phase of treatment, you stay in touch with your therapist to prevent relapse.
Benefits of Ambulatory Care
There are many advantages of outpatient care. For example, outpatient care is generally flexible; you can attend treatment alongside your other commitments. So it is easy to combine with your daily life. Because you stay in your own environment, it is also easy to immediately apply the techniques you learn during treatment.
Hervitas
Hervitas is the only one in the Netherlands that specializes in the treatment of gambling addiction and offers an intensive program. They focus on a personal approach and pay close attention to each client's individual situation. At Hervitas you get an intensive weekly program, you go to Hervitas every working day for treatment. This program is intensive and helps you make quick strides. After this intensive period, you receive extensive aftercare to prevent a relapse. Hervitas also provides care for the people around you so they can help you better.
Inpatient treatment
Sometimes it is necessary for you to step out of your own environment for a while. Because your environment may not help you recover or because you know that in your own environment you will easily relapse. If you get inpatient treatment you will stay in a clinic for a certain amount of time. Often treatment is between 4 and 12 weeks. During this time, you receive therapy and intensive counseling away from your daily environment and triggers.
Benefits of inpatient treatment
Intensive supervision: You receive 24/7 support from professionals. This provides a structured and safe environment.
Focus on recovery: Because you are away from your everyday environment, you can fully focus on your recovery without distractions.
Environment without triggers: in a clinic, you are away from the temptations and stressors that can worsen your addiction or are triggers for you.
Different forms of therapy: You will receive both indivudual and group therapy. This can help you get to the core of your addiction and not feel alone in your addiction.
Admission abroad
Some people choose to go abroad. This also has benefits but is not feasible for everyone. A new environment can help you get a fresh start and begin your recovery. In addition, you are far away from home and therefore you can work on your recovery without being disturbed by your loved ones.
